Military Graphic Novels - To be honest, I wasn't much of a comic book fan before I read Sheriff. I always try to read them like a book, skimming through the conversations and forgetting to slow down and take pictures.
But as the critics say, the best art teaches you how to read it as you work with it. The sheriff taught me how to read comics. It also gave me a new perspective on the war I was a part of, and provided something I believe we as a nation have needed for a while: a sense that our perspective is part of a much larger vision.

Sheriff Babel, written by Tom King, illustrated and colored by Mitch Jarrads, published in July by DC imprint Vertigo, is, in my opinion, the best war story of our generation. It is a political story. This is an obvious version of violence.
